I turn science into systems that

Eighteen years at the seam where deep science meets industrial reality. I take breakthroughs in biotech, consumer goods and digital manufacturing and turn them into things that hold their shape at scale.

Dr. Yianni Alissandratos

Making research survive contact with the real world.

I work at the intersection where the board meets the laboratory and the factory. The decisive middle: taking something that works on the bench and making it work at volume, at cost, and under scrutiny.

Eighteen years of it. I have founded, directed, led R&D and held academic posts across biotech, consumer goods and digital manufacturing. A granted patent in biochemical reactor systems, and EPSRC Co-Investigator on vaccine manufacturing. I am equally at home in a lab coat, on a production line, and at the head of the table.

The value isn't in any one room. It's holding the space between all four, carrying an idea through each.

Laboratory Factory Floor Boardroom Field from the field, back into any room

Laboratory

Deep science. Proof of principle. Machine learning, automation, screening, design of experiments, statistically-led modelling.

Factory Floor

Proof of scale. Proof of financials. Supply-chain implementation.

Boardroom

Stakeholder engagement. Shareholder management. P&L, budgeting, funding rounds.

Field

Scale-up, scale-out. Prove it out.

Working across

CPG / FMCG / Food & Drink / Biotech / Industrial Biotech / AI / ML / Digitalisation / Process Design / AI-assisted Process Design / Physical AI / Industrial Bioprocesses / Fine Chemicals / Nutraceuticals / Health & Wellness / Healthcare

What that looks like in practice.

Engineering

Systems, reactors and process design, built to work and built to be made. Process orchestration, physical AI and machine learning.

Facilitation

Building teams, and getting scientists, operators and executives aligned on well-defined R&D.

Research & Development

Early discovery, carried out with a constant bias toward what can eventually be manufactured.

Deployment

Getting validated work out of the lab and onto the line without losing its integrity.

Scaling

Holding quality, cost and throughput together as volume rises by orders of magnitude.

Board Advisory

Giving leadership the technical and commercial clarity to make confident, well-priced bets.

Ways to work together.

Board advisory

A senior technical and commercial voice in the room, where the innovation bet is big and the downside is real.

Fractional innovation leadership

Interim or part-time R&D and innovation leadership without a full-time hire. I build and run teams, stand up engineering, and carry concepts through to their next stage.

Scale-up & process consultation

Hands-on, taking an R&D result to production: de-risking scale-up and scale-out across bioprocess, CPG and nutraceuticals. From kilo-per-year to kiloton-per-year.

Consultant

Project-scoped technical and innovation consulting: a defined brief, a specific problem, and a result you can build on.

Speaking & subject-matter expert

Talks, panels, expert input and research collaboration. On turning science into scale, why AI in manufacturing is an engineer's job, bridging the skills gap between education and industry, and Industry 4.0.

I take on a handful of engagements a year, across board advisory, fractional leadership, hands-on scale-up and the occasional talk. If you have a problem that sits where deep science meets industrial scale, and getting it wrong actually costs something, I'd like to hear about it.
